Janelle Brown argued for her share of Coyote Pass for years after she left Kody Brown. She was even concerned they could lose the land entirely. Her concerns were valid. It was a real possibility.

In 2018, Kody Brown talked his four wives into moving from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Flagstaff, Arizona. The move caused strife for the family and eventually led to the total collapse of their polygamist lifestyle.

TLC’s cameras captured all of the trouble surrounding the move for Sister Wives. At the center of the Sister Wives drama was Coyote Pass, a parcel of land the family bought and bickered over.

Years later, Janelle Brown, Kody’s second estranged wife, expressed concerns over possibly losing the property and all they had invested in it. Was the family really in danger of relinquishing ownership of the undeveloped land?

Was the Brown family really in danger of losing the property?

Fans of the controversial series have spent seasons bickering over whether the family was ever in any real danger of losing the Coyote Pass property they spent years arguing over.

In the upcoming episode of season 19, Janelle Brown certainly seems to think they are in serious danger of losing the land. Still, was there any real threat?

In short, yes. The Brown family was in danger of losing Coyote Pass. Since the family took an unconventional route to owning the property, it was entirely possible the previous owner could return and claim the land.

The Brown family took out an owner-financed loan with a short repayment timeline. The family had until 2023 to pay the remainder of the loan, or the original owner could take back ownership of the land.

Janelle’s concern was whether Kody would let the property return to the original owner, perhaps out of spite. While she was seriously worried, everything appears to have worked out.

As of June 2023, their debt on the property had been cleared, and it sounds like they paid it off just in the nick of time.

What is going on with Coyote Pass now?

Sister Wives season 19 does not offer real-time footage of the Browns. In fact, footage for the season was filmed between late 2022 and 2023. So, where exactly does the family stand with the property now? Nothing seems to be happening with it.

Most of the Brown family has left Flagstaff, Arizona, behind. Meri and Christine Brown live in Utah, although they live hours apart and have no relationship.

Christine exchanged her stake in Coyote Pass for the value of the home she owned when she left the state. Janelle Brown has moved on from Arizona, too. Instead of staying in the state and building on Coyote Pass, Janelle has purchased property in North Carolina.

Kody Brown and Robyn Brown don’t appear tied to the area any longer, either. The legally married couple listed their sprawling estate for sale in August 2024.

They are asking $1.6 million for the home. Most of the Brown kids have left the area behind, too. The family’s adult children are spread across multiple states, with just a few calling Arizona home.
