Good News: Genie Francis Is Back at General Hospital!
Back at the end of August, Kevin and Laura went off to Africa on the hunt for her missing son, Lucky on General Hospital.
But as viewers know now, it was actually Jason and Anna who were the ones who brought Lucky back home to Port Charles, and Kevin and Laura haven’t been seen since.
That’s because Laura’s departure was to facilitate portrayer Genie Francis’ summer vacation. So now the only question is… when will Laura be back?
The good news for fans is that she’ll be back before you know it! Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Francis has already been back taping for weeks and Laura is scheduled to be back on screen in the episode airing on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Also, Francis’ first scenes back will be with TV son Jonathan Jackson as Laura and Lucky are finally reunited after many years apart.
The actors first worked together back in 1993 when Francis and Anthony Geary made a splashy return to GH and Jackson was cast as their son, Lucky.
After Jackson exited in 1999, Francis worked with the recast Lucky, Jacob Young, until she left in 2002. When she made a brief return in 2006, Lucky was then being played by Greg Vaughan, who now plays Eric on Days of Our Lives.
In 2015, Jackson reprised the role of Lucky for a short stint as part of Geary’s final storyline before he retired from the soap, but that was the last time that he and Francis have worked together.
Now, with Jackson returning for a lengthy stay at GH, he and Francis will really get a chance to reconnect, as will Lucky and Laura.
Back when news of Jackson’s return to the soap was first publicized, Francis shared her excitement on Twitter/X, declaring: “Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back.
I am overjoyed! Can’t wait to work with you again.”
