‘General Hospital’ Favorite Nicholas Chavez Is Returning To TV
General Hospital fans have been waiting to see what will happen with Nicholas Alexander Chavez‘s character on the soap opera.
Last year, Spencer Cassadine was seen plunging into the Seine River and it was unclear as to whether or not he survived. Now, the actor is returning to television, but will he be back in Port Charles? Here is what he has revealed.
Nicholas Chavez Returns To The Small Screen
On September 25, Nicholas Chavez will be returning to the small screen. The Emmy award-winning actor will be starring in Ryan Murphy’s new FX thriller series Grotesquerie.
Grotesquerie is a 10-episode drama series and has quite the star lineup. Niecy Nash-Betts, who also starred in Season 1 of Ryan Murphy’s Monster, will star as a police detective who teams up with a nun. They work together to solve a series of violent crimes.
Nicholas Chavez will play the role of Father Charlie in the series. Courtney B. Vance and Travis Kelce (yes Kansas City Chiefs star athlete) are also on the cast for the FX thriller series.
This isn’t the first time that the General Hospital star has worked with Ryan Murphy either.
When he left GH in late 2023, it was to work with Ryan on Season 2 of Monster. The second season of the series highlighted the Menendez brothers.
After his appearance in Monster, he was expected to return to General Hospital. However, he continued to land other roles and it seemed like soap fans had seen the last of him.
Will Spencer Cassadine Return To General Hospital?
Recently, he tweeted out a hint that he could be returning to the ABC sudser sometime soon. Fans were thrilled when he revealed that, “we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.”
Although there hasn’t been any official announcement, fans were excited at the possibility of Spencer Cassadine returning to Port Charles. After all, he has been a fan-favorite character for years.
While Nicholas Chavez is still in talks with General Hospital about his return, it seems like Ryan Murphy will keep the actor employed.
The writer, director, and producer is well known for working with the same set of actors multiple times.
If he finds someone like Nicholas who truly inspires him, he could use him in several different series.
For example, he cast Evan Peters in numerous roles from American Horror Story to the lead in Netflix’s Jeffrey Dahmer series.
Nicholas isn’t the only former soap actor Ryan Murphy has worked with either. Finn Wittrock, who previously appeared on All My Children, was cast in five seasons of American Horror Story. He also appeared in Ryan’s American Crime Story and Ratched.
So, even if Nicholas isn’t returning to General Hospital as Spencer Cassadine, there will likely be plenty of work for him in the near future.
Who knows, the GH writers could surprise everyone and Spencer could make a comeback too.
