Ava was never going to win any popularity contests in Port Charles, but she’s been making quite a few enemies lately on General Hospital. She’s starting to alienate Sonny, her friendship with Nina is totally kaput, and now Alexis is furious that she got her disbarred. These days more and more people hate Ava than ever before!
“I know,” Maura West (Ava) chuckled to Michael Fairman during an interview on the Daytime Emmy Awards red carpet. “They do that. She’s used to that.”
Still, the Emmy-winning actress insists that her alter ego is just behaving the way she always has. “One of the things I like about her and that I’ve always liked about her is that one of her major character defects is that she’s reactive,” West confided. “She doesn’t take a pause and think like we teach our children. She reacts! Out of anger, passion, whatever it is… she’s very quick to react. And that’s what she’s doing.”
It’s only natural for characters like Ava to rack up enemies, but with so many people turning against her, it’s starting to worry some fans. Whenever a soap makes one particular character the center of so much anger and vitriol, it makes viewers wonder if a murder mystery whodunnit is coming up!
When told that fans are concerned that GH is planning to kill Ava off, West was surprised. “Are they?!” she responded with a sly smile. “Oh… you’ll have to watch and see what happens. That’s all I can tell you.”
While it would be quite surprising for GH to kill off a character with such great dramatic potential, they could always do a “Who Shot Ava” storyline where she doesn’t actually die but someone can still get a little bit of revenge. Of course, once Ava recovered, whoever shot her would be in a world of trouble!
