Sister Wives Season 19 Trailer: Biggest Moments From the Teaser
The last season of Sister Wives left the Brown family fractured into about a million pieces. Kody Brown was dealing with his third wife, Christine Brown leaving.
And Janelle Brown, his second wife, was not so far behind her bosom buddy. The patriarch desperately tried to hold onto any sense of control but failed miserably.
All of his older children were no longer on speaking terms with him. And it seemed like the only consistent thing in his life was his fourth wife, Robyn Brown’s ability to cry on cue.
TLC hadn’t mentioned whether or not Sister Wives would be given a Season 19, so fans were surprised when the Sister Wives Season 19 trailer dropped abruptly this week.
The polygamous clan is as separated as ever, but now Kody is just down to one wife. So, what else can viewers expect to see in the new season? Let’s take a look.
Sister Wives Season 19 trailer: All is fair in love and war
Kody’s first wife, Meri Brown, is finally, FINALLY done with Kody. The trailer starts with cameras focused on Meri telling her friend, “Kody and I are officially done.” The decision has been years in the making, and fans thought this day would never come. But here we are. And the mother of one looks like she has had the weight of the world lifted off her shoulders.
Meri bluntly says in her confessional, “Our marriage is over. I’m not your wife anymore.” In a clapback for the ages, Kody states, “It’s not the divorce that sucks. It’s marrying the wrong person.” But Meri knows what’s up as she notes, “What sucks is marrying the wrong person and not having the decency to tell her until 32 years later.”
Sister Wives fans are also going to have to prepare for some storyline overlap. Most of what will air has already played out in real-time. As we all know, Christine has found her happily ever after with David Woolley. But TLC cameras were a bit behind when it came to catching their love story. Christine is still very much filming her bits of the series from Utah. And cameras catch the mother of six saying, “I just had a date with this guy, David. We’ve already planned out a second date.”
Another Sister Wives marriage bites the dust
Janelle is cutting loose, and I love it. I would argue that Janelle was the most devoted to Kody and the sanctity of their union. But after I watched Janelle drop the F-bomb during Season 18, I knew she wasn’t playing anymore. Season 19 will show Janelle branching out and even taking a shot. Kody will no doubt argue that Christine has been a very bad influence. Janelle is seen opening up to Meri, of all people, saying, “Kody and I have officially said it’s not working.”
The scene jumps to a discussion about Coyote Pass, which, at the time of filming, has not been paid off. Janelle, who seemed to be the only one the last few years who wanted to still build a home on the land, tells Christine, “I talked about him buying me out. But he’s not talking to me about it, so I think I need to lawyer up.”
Kody Brown still thinks he is the victim in all this
According to Kody, all of this nonsense in his life is “such teenage drama.” The father of 18 laments, “What did I do to deserve this? What did I do wrong?” Kody will have to meet David at his daughter Gwen Brown’s engagement party. At the Valentine’s Day-themed party, Kody admits he still thinks things can work out with Janelle. But the mother of six makes it clear in her confessional telling cameras, “We aren’t compatible.”
Robyn is up to her old tricks of whining and crying. But it’s good to see that Sobbin Robyn hasn’t changed too much as she pouts, saying, “This was not the way it was supposed to go. I feel like the idiot that got left behind.” In another clip, she tells Kody, “I’m having a hard time. I’m losing respect for you.”
The silver lining to Sister Wives Season 19
Happily, the trailer did show Meri and Christine hugging. For viewers who have watched since day one, this is a big deal — like an earth-shaking major big deal. Over the last few years, Meri and Christine have been in a silent battle. However, many of Christine’s children have spoken out against how Meri treated them as kids.
The trailer ends with Meri and Kody fighting, and he yells, “Blame yourself if I don’t love you.” This moment left me speechless. Thank God Meri finally got her wits about her. As the scene fades to black, Kody says, “Civil war. Total civil war.”
